Imagine being immersed in all things Zentangle® for three days. That’s exactly what happens when you attend a Zentangle Teacher Training Program. And, I was fortunate to have this experience for the last three days. My sister, cousin, and I headed to Providence, Rhode Island last Sunday and joined 100 people from around the world to become Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZTs).
For three days, we learned how to teach the Zentangle method. We studied tangles, practicing techniques to make the process of teaching the art enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities. We listened to the masters Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas tell heartfelt stories about how they started this phenomenon and how they inspire the world with their passion and love of Zentangle art.
We gathered with other Zentangle enthusiasts—one woman traveling 33 hours (from Taipei) to join the experience. We savored working with exquisite materials—fine paper tiles (white, black, renaissance) and luscious ink pens and graphite pencils. We tangled pumpkins, worked on collaborative projects, and created mosaics of our shared tangled designs.
We dined together and shared tales on how tangling has changed lives. We made new friends. We didn’t want to leave.
Alas, I am home now, and I’m jazzed about the opportunity to start teaching others to love the art of Zentangle as much as I do. Stay tuned for class information, or contact me today.
